Wednesday June 27 Wine Tasting – $20

June is the start to some pretty hot days, so it’s always a good idea to have some nice roses and white wines on hand.  I call them Summer Sippers.  But no tasting is complete without a nice big juicy zin or cab to pair up with what’s on the grill.

Tasting Notes

2016 St. Supery Estate, Napa Valley Merlot, Cab, Malbec, Petite Verdot

This is a bright and crisp Rose, with aromas of raspberry, pomegranate and rose petal. Flavors of strawberry, and watermelon dominate with a touch of raspberry cordial. The vibrant finish has a good mouthfeel and is full of life.

2017 Chateau de Berne Inspiration, Provence, France, Black Granache, Cinsault

A light translucent pink with some yellow gold hues, with delicate notes of cherry, cranberry and pomegranate. This is a dry rosé that has weight and structure on the palate. It is balanced by a freshness and tart red fruit notes like fresh strawberry.

2016 Darioush Signature Viognier, Napa Valley

This is a heady, aromatic variety making rich, complex, and full-bodied white wines redolent of a floral bouquet and assorted stone fruits and tropical fruits, with a hint of spice not unlike that of Gewürztraminer. It is lower in acidity than most white wines, lending to its heavy impression on the palate. While a whiff of Viognier might suggest sweet flavors, these wines are typically quite dry.

2015 Wilson Zinfandel, Dry Creek, Sonoma County

Bright aromatics of black raspberry and blackberry fuse with spicy pepper. The smooth entry leads to the silky texture accented by black pepper and spice box. Fresh blackberry and hints of huckleberry merge with a spicy essence as the playful flavors satiate the palateand linger. This balanced Zin offers those classic Dry Creek Valley qualities that put this region on every wine lover’s map.

2014 Pedras Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, Napa Valley

Our 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is wildly aromatic with effusive aromas of ripe blackberry, sweet spice and black licorice that lift out of the glass.  The first sip seduces with juicy blackberry and ripe bing cherry wrapped in a fine layer of cassis and baking spice.  This balanced wine offers generous mouth-feel, a decadent juicy core, with creamy oak that finishes with beautifully integrated tannins.  Only 100 cases made.
